Pennsylvania announces the following changes to 55 PA Code §2600.202 and 55 PA Code §2800.202 (Prohibitions)
Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services clarified the “Prohibitions” in 55 Pa. Code §§ 2600.202(4) and 2800.202(4) to stress that chemical restraints—the use of drugs solely to control acute or episodic aggressive behavior—are prohibited. Medications ordered by a licensed prescriber to treat a specific diagnosed mental, emotional, or behavioral condition (or as pre-treatment for medical/dental procedures) are not considered chemical restraints.
