Strengthening Your Infection Control Policies and Procedures

Given the population served by long term care (LTC) facilities (i.e., older adults, often with underlying chronic medical conditions), these facilities face a heightened risk of an outbreak of contagious disease, including COVID-19.
Back in March, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) initiated special expedited survey procedures for infection control in response to COVID-19 and the increasingly worrying reports of extremely high COVID-19 rates in some LTC facilities. Several months later, State Survey Agencies have already cited more than 7,000 nursing homes for infection prevention and control program deficiencies.
To make sure your facility is not one of those cited next, join FTLF attorneys Susannah Vance Gopalan and Kristen Schwendinger next Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at 1 PM ET to learn more about:
  • Current requirements for infection control in LTC facilities
  • Ways to improve your facility’s infection control policies and procedures
  • Strategies to prepare for CMS and state surveys relating to infection control
  • The roles of other federal agencies involved in monitoring LTC facility infection control compliance
Did you miss the webinar series? In March, we hosted a complimentary, four-part webinar series to discuss the changing regulatory landscape for long-term care facilities and home health agencies and the resulting compliance implications. Each webinar is now available to view on-demand:
Part I: Compliance and Ethics Programs for Long-Term Care Facilities
Part II: The PDPM and PDGM
Part III: Privacy & Access to Medical Records for Residents
Part IV: Emergency Preparedness for Long-Term Care Facilities
