COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 UPDATES
ASPR has released a new toolkit on COVID-19 Considerations for Long-Term Care Facilities. The toolkit contains information on emergency planning, infection prevention, operational considerations, behavioral health and workplace safety.
The importance of vaccines has never been more prominent. While AHCA/NCAL advocates for priority when a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available, long term care providers are also acutely aware of the importance of the influenza vaccine for the 2020-2021 season.
Researchers at the University of North Carolina, School of Nursing want to make it easier for residents and families to get involved in assisted living care. The UNC Engage Study is a national effort to gather input from staff, residents, and families in assisted living about their engagement in care and experiences during COVID-19.
INTEGRITY
The US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General (OIG) has released its updated List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) database file, which reflects all OIG exclusions and reinstatement actions up to, and including, those taken in September 2020.
WORKFORCE
On Friday, September 11, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) issued an update to the temporary rule they issued in April regarding coronavirus leave. This update changes the definition of health care workers. Employees defined as health care workers are not required to have paid sick leave and extended family and medical leave under the Act.
