Born on a ship en route to New York from Italy during the height of the 1918 flu pandemic, the 101-year-old has now recovered from COVID-19. “It also just goes to show how much the world needs hope that you can beat this at 101,” said Amy Elba, administrator of North Westchester Restorative Therapy & Nursing Center, where Friedman lives.
